Shell Lubricants Malaysia shared valuable insights on how to achieve lower cost per kilometre with fleet owners at the Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Expo (MCVE) 2017 which was held on 18th May – 20th May 2017, at the Malaysia International Exhibition & Convention Centre (MIECC) in Kuala Lumpur.
MCVE is the largest exhibition dedicated to commercial vehicles in South-East Asia with presence from key industry players on-site. As the market leader in Malaysia, Shell Lubricants Malaysia again participated in the event and showcased the Shell Driveline products (Shell Rimula, Shell Spirax and Shell Gadus) and how these products can help the business owner in reducing their total cost of ownership (TCO).
MAN Truck and Bus (M) Sdn Bhd (MTBM) announced during the Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Expo 2017 that it is introducing a new training program, MAN ProfiDrive that is tailored towards individual customer requirements. The new sector-specific training helps address fuel economy and driving safety for particular transport assignments.

On 4 April 2017, Volvo Malaysia announced that it had recorded an increase of 4.8% in sales for its Volvo truck brand for financial year 2016, compared to the previous year. The growth was achieved through the sale of 370 units of trucks, which also led to the brand capturing 45% of the market share in European heavy-duty prime mover segment in Malaysia, making it the top truck brand for the year.
Commenting on the growth, Mats Nilsson, Managing Director of Volvo Malaysia said, “The overall heavy duty truck market in Malaysia had actually shrunk by 5% in 2016, mainly attributed to a slowdown of the economy and currency depreciation, which resulted in companies scaling back on their capital expenditures. Despite a challenging business environment, we managed to stay on course with our business strategy and effectively utilised our resources to achieve continued growth.”

Scania has identified Thailand as one of the key markets in Asia and is expanding its industrial and commercial presence in the country. A new assembly facility for trucks and bus chassis as well as a manufacturing facility for truck cabs will be established in the Bangkok Metropolitan Region, including staff for production, logistics and purchasing as well as research and development. The total investment is EUR 21.2 million and operations are scheduled to start in 2018.
